Accomodation & Food

Accomodation & Meals

Our guests will be staying at the Baglio Custera, a boutique resort hotel nestled in  Marsala’s countryside. Known for its gardens and luxurious swimming pool, this ultramodern resort stands on the Rakalia hill, the site of an ancient shrine to Hercules, surrounded by centenary olive trees and fragrant orange groves. Baglio Custera is a brand new hotel built on ancient lines, those of the "baglio," or Sicilian farmhouse.

Sicily boasts an extraordinary cuisine influenced by the unique flavors of the Mediterranean region. Its mainstays are garden-fresh vegetables and fruit, ancient grains, local cheeses and seafood. All meals, accommodation and transport are Included in your package, including a celebratory welcome dinner with the instructor.

Car rental is not necessary but suggested if you'd like to explore on your own.

I have food allergies/dietary requirements

Package Details

Are your workshops wheelchair accessible?

Unfortunately, they currently are not.

Can I bring my partner?

Participants can bring a non-participating partner for an additional lodging and transportation cost. Please let us know as soon as possible if you’d like to bring a guest.

What will I need?

You will need comfortable clothes, shoes and hat for painting, either in studio or in the field. You may need to walk and carry materials on a few days so please dress comfortably. Spring and autumn in Marsala are warm, with cooler evenings and occasional blustery weather; summer weather is hot, so layered clothing is recommended. We also suggest you bring a bathing suit and something smarter to change into for group dinners.

Our studio provides many basic materials, including solvents and studio easels. You will need to bring your own paint and brushes. Please consult the materials list in your welcome packet for further details. If you wish to travel lightly, consider purchasing or renting materials through us. Everything needed for your workshop will be available for purchase or rental at the Sicily Artist Retreats studio in Marsala. We recomend ordering in advance through  this website.

Naturally, if you’re not an EU resident, you will need a valid passport. We strongly recommend Travel Insurance and Trip Cancellation Insurance, and an international driver's license if you plan to drive.
